Mobulair was chosen to oversee aerial photography at the launch event for Vodafone’s new youth tariff, VOXI, in our largest and most high-profile project yet.
The star-studded event was held behind London’s iconic Brick Lane market, in the Old Truman Brewery and nightclub 93 Feet East. The highlight of the night was performances by UK chart-topper Dua Lipa and One Direction’s Liam Payne, which were live-streamed from the air to social media channels.
We spent weeks planning our part in the event, in coordination with multiple other agencies and the client’s health and safety team. Mobulair also developed the creative concept for the shoot, working within the challenging environment of the event space to identify a list of shots, angles and camera moves.
Vodafone wanted to live-stream aerial footage of the gig and record the entire event in full 4KHD. For this we brought a selection of 5 drones: an S900 with a GH4 camera, 2 Inspire’s with X5 cameras, plus a Phantom 4 Pro and a 3DR Solo as backups. By having two drones in the air at any one time, we managed to capture both wide-angle establishing shots of the crowd and laser show as well as close-ups of the performers on stage.
With just one chance to capture and transmit the footage, there was no margin for error. Thanks to meticulous planning it went without a hitch and the video got 900,000 views within 24 hours. Enjoy it yourself here!
