The footage will appear in a documentary by Steve Bonser following the supercar’s journey from design to production under the Gordon Murray Design team, designer of Formula One race cars and the McLaren F1 road car.
The shoot took place at Dunsfold Aerodrome, home of the world-famous Top Gear test track. In order to keep up with the Griffith – which boasts a top speed of 200 mph and reaches 62 mph in under 4 seconds – we used our S1000 UAV equipped with GH4 and a backup S900 with Sony A6300. We also took aerial 360° panoramas with a 3DR Solo.
It was thrilling to chase the car around the race track, obtaining a variety of aerial shots plus behind-the-scenes footage of the 15-strong technical team. As well as operating the drone and cameras, Mobulair was in continual contact with air traffic control to coordinate our flights with the private jets that use the airstrip.
We were proud to help showcase the return of a classic British marque. The TV documentary is slated for broadcast in 2018, but you can enjoy some stills below.
